A parliamentary hopeful is pledging to publish all expenses if he is elected.

Gavin Barwell, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Croydon Central, has sent flyers to constituents detailing his promises in a bid to regain the trust of voters severely damaged from the MP expenses row.

He wrote: “So how do I convince you I won’t abuse your trust if you elect me?

“I could tell you I am just as angry about what has happened as you no doubt are.

“Angry at what some MPs have been spending our money on at a time when many people are struggling because of the recession.

“And angry at the way they have tried to defend their behaviour saying they haven’t broken any rules when they made those rules.

Mr Barwell has pledged to only claim for what is necessary, to not have a second home, to publish all expenses online, including his income and who he employs, and has promised not to employ any of his immediate family.

Fellow Conservative Richard Ottaway, MP for Croydon South, has received criticism for his expenses and for employing his wife as a parliamentary secretary.
