A woman whose dog was savaged by a Staffordshire bull terrier claimed police did not attend when she called 999.

Rachel Parker, from New Addington, was out walking her one-year-old puppy Max, when it was attacked by the dog who pinned it to the ground and locked its jaw around the collie’s neck.

Miss Parker had gone for the afternoon walk in Biggin Hill with her seven-year-old son and partner.

As she walked through woodland at the end of King Henry’s Drive, the dog ran up to her family and allegedly started to attack Max.

She said: “The dog came running towards us and headed directly for my son. I began to get worried because the dog didn’t look friendly, then all of a sudden it just lunged and pinned Max to the ground.

“I started screaming and two men came running over and started hitting and kicking the dog. They didn’t look surprised he had done it at all and didn’t apologise.”

Miss Parker decided to get out of the woods and call police.

When she did she claimed they told her they would be there shortly and to stay where she was.

She then claims to have got a call back moments later telling her they would not be coming.

She added: “This is happening all the time in New Addington.

“I spoke to some friends who also have dogs and they seem to think people are breeding them to fight. I am shocked the police aren’t doing something about this.”

A Bromley police spokesman said: “We received a call from a worried member of the public saying her dog had been attacked. When we called her back to ascertain what crime had been committed she became frustrated and hung up on the operator.”
