Sheepdogs and ska music will combine next month as the best of the city and countryside meet for the Lambeth Country Show.

The final line up has now been announced for the two day festival in Brockwell Park on July 18 and 19.

The show, the largest of its kind in south-east England and now in its 35th year, combines the attractions of a traditional country show, such as home made jams, sheep dog displays and prize winning vegetables, with urban flavours and a distinct south London vibe.

Reggae, ska and soul will once again feature heavily on the music stages, and food stalls sell everything from spicy Thai cuisine to some of London’s best jerk chicken.

Musical highlights on the main stage this year include reggae legend Johnny Clarke, a capella group Black Voices, Red Earth and Soothsayers Collective featuring the legendary Michael Prophet, roots reggae singer Prince Malachi, and first lady of UK reggae Sylvia Tella, among others.

Organisers Lambeth Council also promise local south London talent will feature prominently throughout the weekend.

Visitors to the Village Green Stage can enjoy a picnic while listening to an eclectic mix of new, up and coming local acts.

New zone Cultivate will be dedicated to providing a platform to artistic performances and cultural experiences, where festival goers can enjoy and take part in everything from flamenco dancing to African drumming, and storytelling to a tea dance.

Elsewhere, the show will serve up the usual mix of food stalls, horticultural shows, competitions, medieval jousting, craft stalls, home made cider, fairground rides, fudges and chutneys and farm animals.

Steve Reed, leader of Lambeth Council, said: “The show really demonstrates Lambeth at its best. It is the perfect showcase for Lambeth’s vibrancy and creativity and it reflects all that’s great about living in this part of south London.”

Around 100,000 people are estimated to attend the show over the course of the weekend.

The show will run from 11am to 7pm each day, with music starting at 1pm each day.
