Swine Flu has broken out in England now as honeymooners come back from their holiday in Mexico. These are the first cases of swine flu in England and many more are expected to become apparent in the coming weeks.

But are people worrying about it?

Well, with the government bringing out the ‘Catch it, Bin it, Kill it,’ campaign, and everyone being extra careful about being extra cleanly when out and about, the hype about Swine flu is quite calm in Sutton at the moment and although there are confirmed cases in nearby places like Putney and Crystal Palace, there arent any reports or rumours about it coming any closer, so generally people aren’t worrying about it yet although the public are being very wary and using lots of disinfectant after going out in public places.

What is the local area doing about it?

Lots of action is being taken in schools such as Glenthorne High School. There are four dispensers full of disinfectant spray which the pupils and teachers wipe on their hands before they eat and after putting money on lunch cards. Plus, cleaners are working especially hard to clean the school before the day starts and after pupils leave at the end of the day. Also, the streets seem much cleaner and at least twice in the last week I have seen the sweepers in Sutton high street.

Therefore, swine flu may be breaking out around the country and around the world in general but is Sutton ready for it? Definitely!
