Roary the Racing Car and his mechanic, Big Chris, provided fun for all the family at Mercedes-Benz World, Weybridge, over the weekend.

The characters were celebrating the launch of Kinderclass, a new initiative by designed to promote safe travel to children.

Young visitors were given the chance to meet Roary the Racing Car and cut their racing-driver teeth on an exciting pedal car racing track.

Kinderclass comprises free car seat fitting advice, car seat checks and driving experiences to teach parents how to drive safely with children in the car.

The experience covers driving in extreme conditions and information on reducing car sickness, as well as practical demonstrations of how distractions put drivers at risk.

Ruth Pucci, Kinderclass project manager, said: “The safety of a child is every parent’s number one priority, particularly when out on the road, which is why we have launched Kinderclass.

“Kinderclass offers parents everything they need to ensure their children are safe when they’re out and about.”

Surrey Fire and Rescue were on hand at the weekend to teach youngsters about fire safety and life as a firefighter, while the Royal Life Saving Society offered parents free first aid classes covering baby and child resuscitation.
