With the constant promises of a hot summer and the credit crunch combined, more and more people will be staying home or considering UK holidays.

So this poses the question of what to do. Wimbledon offers many activities especially for this season, for example a family cool-down in an open-air swimming pool at the David Lloyd gym or signing the children up for fun water sports with their friends at Wimbledon Park Sport Centre. Horse riding on the Common and other local park activities are on offer.

South Park Gardens Music Festival is taking place on Saturday the 4th July2009; it is a free event aimed at and made up of ‘young people’ aged 22 and under. It will be the first of its kind.

On the 20th of June the Wimbledon Short Film Festival 2009 will be an attraction at the Polka Theatre. Film critics, director and editors are coming to organise and judge this event. Finally the annual Wimbledon championships are lurking around the corner, 22nd June -5th July 2009.

All this combined with great alfresco dining and an ice-cream is a brilliant way to spend your summer.
