The founder of a charity that empowers troubled young people has been celebrated at a glittering awards ceremony.
Mitcham’s Anne Davies, chief executive of Jigsaw4u, was named Inspiring Woman of the Year by She Magazine. The winner was handed her award during a ceremony at Claridges in central London earlier this month.
Ms Davies started her charity, which supports children and young people who have experienced grief and trauma, in 1997 after 20 years spent working in social care.
Initially run from her home, the charity now has 27 staff and volunteers based at three offices across Britain.
The award winner said she was inspired to start Jigsaw4u by her own traumatic experiences during childhood.
The judges said she was handed the prize for showing “incredible strength, bravery, commitment and determination”.
