A schoolgirl who performed for millions of viewers in the live semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent said she had “really good fun” despite missing out on this weekend’s final.

Demi Bennetts, 15, from Feltham, and her best friend Megan McKenna, 16, from Essex, burst out of a giant cake on Tuesday night before singing Cyndi Lauper’s hit Girls Just Want To Have Fun.

The Harmony girls were heaped with praise from the judges, but comic dancer Stavros Flatley won the public vote, with young singer Shaheen Jafargholi also being chosen to go through.

Demi, of Redford Close, said the competition was really strong, but they loved having the chance to perform live.

She said: “It was really good, it was wicked, I loved it. We made the judges laugh and had fun.

“We are still going to carry on singing together, we love singing together.”

Piers Morgan said he had not seen anyone keener to be on the talent show, while Amanda Holden said it was a “brilliant performance”.

Simon Cowell added: “What I like about you is you don’t take yourselves too seriously.”

Demi’s proud mum Sam was in the studio audience and said she loved every minute of it.

She said: “I am very, very proud. They were first on which was the hardest because they had to go on and set the standard. To have the privelege of them doing that was amazing. They had girl power all the way through.”

The girls will find out on Sunday if they have been chosen to go on the Britain’s Got Talent tour.

They have become a hit on YouTube, with videos of them on the show receiving more than 300,000 hits.
