Voters go to the polls on Thursday June 4 to elect representatives for the county council and for the European Parliament.

It will be the first time the political parties have to assess the political backlash after the MPs expenses scandal.

Political commentators have been speculating that the prolonged publicity and the resignation of The Speaker could influence local elections even though county council politics are not affected by the scandal.
