Patients had to be evactuated from Feltham Health Centre this morning after a blaze broke out.

Fire crews have launched an investigation after a water cooler mysteriously caught alight in one of the meeting rooms on the third floor surgery at 9am.

More than 50 people were evacuated from the building and Feltham fire station watch manager Albert Gonzalez confimed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire.

Fire crews put out the fire but water caused the below Citizens Advice office to flood.

Mr Gonzalez said: "This was a fire which was almost extinguished when we arrived this morning. Around 50 people were evacuated from the building which was full of smoke.

"Our fire investigation unit has assessed the scene and we believe it originated from a water cooler machine."

An NHS Hounslow spokesman said: "We can confirm that there was a fire alert at the Feltham Centre for Health at The Centre at 09.30 on 26 May 2009.

"The building was evacuated and following a search of all the rooms a fire was discovered in a meeting room.

"The fire was quickly extinguished by the fire brigade and following their investigation the fire was attributed to a faulty circuit board in a water cooler/heater.

"There was a short disruption to services to patients during this incident and the Feltham Centre for Health re-opened to patients at approximately 11.00am."
