A man is in a serious condition after being stabbed in what becomes the borough’s second serious knife attack in two weeks.

The victim, believed to be in his early thirties, was found with a stab wound to the torso, just after 2am on Saturday May 23 on West Street, which runs past Carshalton station.

A police spokeswoman said the man was taken to a south London hospital where his condition was “serious but stable”.

She said a 38-year-old man was arrested and is currently in custody at a south London police station.

The incident comes after another man was charged with attempted murder after a 20-year-old was stabbed in the back near Sutton town centre.

Alvin Osinde, 20, of Bushey Road, Sutton, was remanded in custody at Sutton Magistrates’ Court on May 18 to appear at the Old Bailey on August 9.

The victim, who has still not been named, needed hospital trestment after the knife attack in the Lenham Road area at about 11om on Thursday May 14.
