A man has been charged with the murder of father of two Wesley Blake in West Croydon.

Henry Buahin, 24, from Lambeth, appeared at Croydon Magistrates' Court on Monday morning and was remanded in custody.

Plasterer Mr Blake was killed after being shot twice while sitting in a car on St Saviour's Road, Croydon.

He struggled to get help from nearby resident's houses before collapsing on the street last Monday.

The 27-year-old expectant father was taken to Mayday Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8.10pm.

A post-mortem gave cause of death as a single gunshot wound to the chest.

On Saturday Mr Buahin was arrested in Colliers Wood on suspicion of murder and later charged.

Mr Buahin will re-appear at the Old Bailey on August 28.

He was the fifth man to be arrested in connection with Mr Blake’s death.

On 19 May, a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after surrendering himself at a south London police station. He is now bailed to return on pending further inquiries - next due 28 May.

Later that day three other men a 31 year-old, a 27-year-old and a 29-year-old were arrested in connection with the inquiry and were interviewed at a south London police station. They are now bailed to return on 15 July, pending further inquiries.

A/DCI Tony Boughton from Operation Trident, which deals with gun crime in the black community, is leading the investogation and continues to appeal for witnesses and information.
