Scores of schoolchildren experienced the world of business in a visit to local travel insurance company Mondial Assistance.

Employees at the company have been involved in mentoring children from Castle Hill Primary School for the past five years.

This year groups of school children worked with a mentor worked on a project looking at different professions such as surgeon, architect or shop manager.

A spokeswoman said: “When we first asked the children what they wanted to be, all they knew about were footballers, celebrities or anything to do with being rich and famous.

“It’s nice to see them interested in different professions.

“They have definitely come away from this knowing what their options are and feeling more excited about the world of work.”

The children had to look at how their chosen profession operated and then put together a presentation on it including details of the job, qualifications needed and the money they could earn.

A class from the school then went on a day’s trip to the Mondial offices where they saw how the business worked, had a presentation from the recruitment teams and played on some of the equipment.

They also learned how to put together a CV.
