The St Nicholas Shopping Centre resembled a scene from a Shakira music video as a group of belly dancers shook up Sutton recently.
The belly brigade, aged nine to 45 and including several mothers and daughters, drew wild applause from assembled navel-gazers.
The women were all members of the Hipsinc belly dance school, which attracts students from across London to weekly classes at the Phoenix Centre in Wallington.
Charlotte Desorgher, Hipsinc director and teacher, said: “I think we surprised the shoppers by how varied the belly dance styles were.
"And they really seemed to enjoy the show - they were clapping and cheering, and we even got some up to dance with us.”
