May Queens were crowned across Sutton the borough celebrated the traditional festival.

In Wallington outgoing May Queen Zoe Bird helped crown the new Queen Rhianna Deonarain and her prince Lisa Bird.

Meanwhile in Sutton Katie Staniford was crowned May Queen and was star of a procession lead by a piper, which began at the Salvation Army offices, went up Throwley Way and back down the High Street.

Organiser Delia Staniford said: “Katie was crowned by outgoing Queen Cerys, who got very emotional for a six year old.

“She did a speech thanking people for her special day, then we paraded back up to the Salvation Army in Sutton where the girls and boys had a tea party hosted by the Queen.

“All in all this was a lovely day even though the weather was not with us.”
