Julian Speroni: Three outstanding saves and claimed numerous crosses. Kicking was a bit wayward early on but without him this season the Eagles could have found themselves much lower than 15th. Man of the match. 9

Matt Lawrence: A couple of mistakes but sturdy enough performance at right back and helped cope with the Blades’ physical presence. 7

Paddy McCarthy: Got his head to almost everything but was caught out of position for Ward’s second half chance. 8

Jose Fonte: Did the simple things well and didn’t try to be too fancy. 8

Clint Hill: Committed as ever and suits being captain. Orchestrated the defence and stopped United attacking down the wing. 8

Johnny Ertl: His height helped repel Sheffield’s long throws and he gave a good outlet in the middle of the park. 7

Nick Carle: Good performance from the Australian and played some super balls. 7

Neil Danns: Was everywhere and provided great support to the attack. Should have scored. If he can replicate this form next season and stay fit he will be a huge asset. 8

Victor Moses: Needs to work on his final ball but again showed glimpses of why he is so highly rated. 7

Anthony Stokes: Had some good moments but his performance summed up his loan spell – disappointing. 6

Shefki Kuqi: Could be the last time we see the Finn and he gave the United defence a difficult time, like he has most sides this term. 7

Subs:

Rui Fonte (Moses, 55): Could have been his last chance to earn a permanent deal and did ok, but misplaced a few passes in good positions. 6

Lee Hills: (Stokes, 72): Got into a couple of good positions but needs to work on his shooting. 6

James Scowcroft (Danns, 90): Only one minute and didn’t touch the ball in his 86th and final appearance for Palace. 5
