By Community Correspondent, Philippa Hennessy After last year's fund raising success at The Wimbledon Village Fair, The Wimbledon Guild is aiming high once again at its popular annual event to be held on Saturday 20th June. And again, it promises to be a great day out for all the family. Set on Wimbledon Common, main attractions include a horse show, fun dog show, 200 craft and produce stalls, all day entertainment on a central stage, food village, a Young's beer tent and champagne/wine bar, tea garden, Wimbledon Nannies Crèche, a large farmers market, pony rides, Fun Fair, Punch & Judy, and so much more.

The All England Club is the main sponsor and as usual many other local businesses are supporting the event - this, together with only local suppliers being used, makes the Fair a truly local initiative. Money raised at the event goes to the provision of hot meals for the elderly at the charity's day centre, funding a free counselling session for a young person in distress, buying a school uniform for a child (helping to avoid bullying and exclusion), as well as providing a week's nursing respite care at the charity's care home.

The Fair starts at 10.30am – 5.30pm and entry is free. For more information, please visit www.wimbledonguild.co.uk.
