A 34-year-old woman has been left traumatised after being robbed of her phone and handbag in Blagdon Park, New Malden on April 26 - the second attack in the area in three weeks.

The woman was grabbed from behind as she made her way to Burlington Road through the alleyway in the park, before being threatened by a “young” sounding man wearing dark clothes at about 11.45pm.

Police said they were not linking the incident with the attack on April 8, which has left a 16-year-old boy in a critical condition in hospital with serious head injuries, but would be increasing high profile patrols in the area.

Detective Sergeant Charlie Morrow said: “It’s a natural beauty spot, but we are asking people to remain vigilant.”

Anyone who may have seen the attacker, who was said to be between 5ft 6in and 5ft 7in, should contact DC Kevin Goodman at Kingston CID on 020 8247 5137 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
