An intensive care nurse from Guy’s and St Thomas’s hospitals has returned from a nine-week mission to treat the sick on the west coast of Africa.
Lambeth resident Holly Fleming, 27, volunteered her services to charity Mercy Ship that treats the sick on a ship docking at ports.
She joined around 450 volunteers from 33 nations, and worked more than 45 hours a week delivering specialist care to babies with cleft lips and palates, women with fistulae or patients with tumours or burns.
