This was the scene captured by a photography enthusiast when a blaze gutted a Battersea flat two weeks ago.

Lali Parikh spotted the scene from her sixth floor flat in Eagle Heights, Falcon Road, and took a few snaps for the Wandsworth Guardian.

She said: "I was getting ready for work and saw the fire from my bedroom window.

"I had my camera to hand so took some pictures. It was amazing and good to know there were no fatalities."

Firefighters battled for nearly two and a half hours to control the blaze on the eighth floor of a block of flats on Friday, April 17.

One woman was treated for smoke inhalation and 15 people were evacuated after fire crews were called at around 8.10am.

The five-room flat, in Lindsay Court, Battersea High Street, was completely gutted.

Six engines and 35 firefighters from Battersea, Wandsworth, Clapham, Fulham and Southwark stations attended.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
