All the talk this week has been about Neil Warnock and Sheffield United but let's not forget an Eagles win on Sunday will go a long way to repaying one of the club's biggest debts.

Victory over the Blades coupled with Steve Coppell's Reading beating Birmingham would see the Palace legend promoted back to the top flight of English football and another chapter added to the love affair between him and Selhurst Park.

The reaction he got when the Royals came to SE25 last month was nothing short of rapturous and showed just how much the fans value what he did for this club.

Voted manager of the Palace Centenary XI he achieved two promotions, an FA Cup final, a third place finish, won the Zenith Data Systems Cup and, perhaps most importantly of all, he stayed with the club through all the administration problems a decade ago and kept them safe from relegation.

In the press conference after the Reading game one ambitious reporter asked him if he would ever come back to Palace and the former Manchester United winger simply gave a small grin and said: "I have a club right now thank you", but just the thought of him returning fills me with excitement.

As for Warnock there is no way he is going to role over and let Sheffield United win, he's not that kind of man and he will want to win the game, to suggest otherwise is ridiculous.

After what has been a disappointing season somehow Palace have found ourselves in the middle of a promotion triangle with a pivotal role to play and I for one hope they can give Coppell what he needs - we owe him that much.
