Steve Cordery believes Staines are more than ready for this evening’s play-off battle with Sutton United.
A tense and edgy night is expected at Wheafsheaf Park for the all-important semi-final.
And although the Swans failed at the death in last year’s final with AFC Wimbledon, manager Cordery is relishing the prospect of another go tonight.
He said: “To be frank I don’t really like the play-offs, in fact I can’t stand them.
“I expect people will read that and think I would say that with us finishing in second place the last two years, but I do think the runners-up should go up with the champions.
“But it’s no good moaning because we know what’s going on as soon as we start the season.
“And I think we’re in a good frame of mind and I have full faith in the squad of players we have here. I think we are well prepared, we’ve just had a great week at training and of course we got back to winning ways last Saturday against Margate.
“It was a good, solid performance – just what we needed heading into Tuesday night’s game with Sutton.”
And Cordery believes his team are about to lock horns with a side more than capable of winning back their Blue Square South place at the first time of asking.
He added: “We couldn’t have been given a more difficult game – they have players that have all played in the Conference South.
“But we fear no-one and cannot wait for tonight to come around.”
Tickets are available on the door – kick off this evening is at 7.45pm
