An action plan to combat Mexican swine flu arriving in Lambeth has been put in place by the borough’s Primary Care Trust (PCT).
A spokeswoman for NHS Lambeth - a new body set up by Lambeth PCT - said pandemic flu action plans were in place.
Yet she said it was too early to make a complete assessment of the health implications of the new virus for the UK but the Health Protection Agency (HPA) was closely monitoring the situation.
She said anyone concerned or returning from a visit to an affected area should monitor their health closely for seven days, and if they developed flu-like symptoms should stay at home and call their GP or seek advice from NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 or at nhs.uk
More than 150 people have died in Mexico, and two cases are confirmed in Scotland.
