Youngsters at a Whitton school took part in an international event last week and wrote personal messages to Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Every child at Heathfield Junior School, in Cobbett Road, took part in the Big Read - an event focusing on the importance of literacy which takes place in 100 countries - last Wednesday.
They read the words of former leaders including Nelson Mandela and wrote messages for Mr Brown on pictures of the door of 10 Downing Street which they designed as part of a competition run by sendmyfriend.org - an organisation trying to get more than 75 million children worldwide into schools.
A school spokesman said the children would be sending the doors to the PM.
