Bedfont’s new caretaker manager believes his more relaxed management style has helped the players end a dismal run of six straight losses.

Since being accused of getting former manager Mick Turtle the sack, Daniel Butler has presided over two crucial wins and given Bedfont a great chance of beating the drop.

“I wanted there to be a more positive and relaxed atmosphere in the dressing room,” said Butler.

“The players weren’t happy so I’ve just tried to put the enjoyment back into it. I’m not one to scream and shout at them all the time and the boys have responded brilliantly to me.

"We are all in it together now and Saturday’s another cup final for us against Bedfont Green.”

Bedfont will need a win against their local rivals to guarantee survival and Butler admitted it will be a big task to beat the newly crowned league champions in their own back yard.

“Bedfont Green deserved to win it,” he said.

“In Russell Miner they have probably the best player in the league so we’ll need to step up to the plate.

"We obviously have to give them due respect but if we believe in ourselves and put in that extra bit of effort we can definitely do it.”

Despite his perfect start in the job Butler insists he’s only the caretaker manager and will resume his coaching role at the end of the season.

Though just 33, he has been helped by his experience at Hounslow Borough, where he got a taste of management by twice stepping into the hot seat as a caretaker.

A win was vital against Molesey on Saturday and Marcus Fearon’s solo effort put the home side ahead after a nervy start. Luke Craig doubled the lead from the penalty spot and Richard Bond sealed a comfortable win with his second half strike.

Last week former manager Mick Turtle accused Butler of stabbing him in the back following his sacking by the club.

Turtle believes Butler told the board that he’d lost the dressing room, with the intention of getting his own friend into the job. Butler refused to comment on his former colleague’s departure.
