Firefighters spent more than four hours battling a blaze in a Balham glazing shop in the early hours of Saturday morning.

No-one was hurt, but the adjacent property was evacuated and one person was treated for smoke inhalation.

Crews were called to the shop in Cavendish Road, Balham, at 4.32am but the three-storey property was gutted before the flames were under control at 9.08am.

Eight fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Clapham, Brixton, Battersea, Norbury, Tooting and Chelsea stations attended.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
