Julian Speroni: Could not do anything about Dean Shiels’ first goal for Rovers since joining from Hibernian, nor the second. Kept the score respectable when he tipped over Martin Wood’s goal-bound free-kick. 7

Nathaniel Clyne: Not his best performance in a Palace shirt, but still showed why top-flight clubs should be interested in him. Great pace going forward as well. 6

Matt Lawrence: Solid performance at centre-back, some timely tackles and blocks in and around the box plus helped launch a number of Palace attacks. 7

Paddy McCarthy: Reasonable game alongside Lawrence, but should have done better for the second goal. 6

Clint Hill: A good turn from the on-field captain. Looked to move up the pitch when the game allowed. 7

Johnny Ertl: Unlucky not to score, but the defensive midfield role that he was deployed in does not suit his natural game. Will come into his own next season. 6

Nick Carle: At the centre of most of Palace’s offensive moves. Should really have scored though. 7

Neil Danns: Like his partner in the centre of midfield, Nick Carle, Danns should have found his name on the scoresheet. Looked better in attack than when on defensive duties. 7

Rui Fonte: Caught in a no-mans land between playing up-front and having to drop into midfield. A quiet-ish game for the on-loan from Arsenal man. 6

Anthony Stokes: Looked relatively lively throughout, unfortunate not to score. 7

Shefki Kuqi: Worked hard, ran hard – but nothing came off for the big front man. Very unhappy at getting subbed as well. 6

Subs

James Scowcroft (Kuqi, 69): Only had 20 minutes on the pitch, but could not get into the game. 5

Kieron Cadogan (Carle, 58): Strangely came on for Carle in the 58th minute, didn’t quite manage to bring any further attacking verve to the mix. 6

Lee Hills (R Fonte, 76): Showed his versatility by entering the fray in midfield, but pretty anonymous. 5
