Why has the environment on Epsom’s new estates been left in limbo for so long?

Why has it taken Surrey County Council more than nine years to adopt some of the roads built on what was the Manor Hospital and what is going to happen to Horton Chapel and the Horton water tower?

Epsom and Ewell Borough Council is to hold a meeting on Wednesday April 29 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Southfield Park Primary School, Epsom to discuss the future of the chapel and water tower - five years after the first meeting to debate its future was held.

When the chapel and the water tower were saved from demolition during the building of the Livingstone Park estate in Epsom on the site of the old Horton psychiatric hospital, local residents were consulted about its future. Since then there has been no progress.

Other topics up for discussion include the delay in Surrey County Council taking responsibility for the roads built on the sites of the former psychiatric hospitals and the plans to increase the number of school places at Southfield Park Primary School.
