Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has praised Kieron Cadogan after the Eagles academy graduate scored on his first team debut last night.

The 18-year-old rounded Coventry keeper Kieron Westwood after a mistake from Ben Turner to earn Palace a point and Warnock revealed his performances for the reserves and U18 in recent weeks earned him his chance.

"I'm ever so pleased for him," he said.

"He was brilliant in pre-season and I gave him his contract but he broke his leg that day.

"But these last four of five weeks he has been very good and I decided on Monday he would on the bench as I might as well have a look at one or two.

"He is absolutely buzzing now and was supposed to play in the reserves today but I've taken him out because he won't have slept last night, he'd have been going through that goal over and over in his head."

Midfielder James Comley could also get his chance in the next few weeks with Shaun Derry set to undergo a shoulder operation after Easter and Neil Danns suffering a going injury last night.

"James Comley was unlucky tonight but he will get his chance," he said.

"Nathaniel Pinney hasn't had a game yet and he was unlucky tonight. I nearly put him on the bench but went with Comley instead but he is another one with a great attitude.

"We've got the best kids coming through of any club outside the top four in the Premiership I think and we should enjoy that."
