A man was killed and two people seriously injured in a head-on crash between two cars.
Sussex Police said the 33-year-old driver of a Ford Focus died at the scene of the crash in Top Road, Sharpthorne, just after midnight.
A 26-year-old female passenger in the Focus and the male driver of a BMW were taken to the New East Surrey Hospital for treatment to serious injuries.
Officers have appealed for witnesses to the incident to contact them.
The Top Road was closed temporarily while Sussex Police carried out an investigation.
