Crystal Palace’s worrying slump in form continued as they were dumped out of the FA Cup 4-3 by Watford, despite a late rally.

The Eagles were poor throughout and relied on Alan Lee flicking on long balls from the defence, while Ex-Eagle Jobi McAnuff inspired the home side and had a hand in all four of their goals.

It was his corner after 16 minutes that Jose Fonte cleared straight to Jay DeMerit who had time to control the ball on his chest and volley into the top corner.

Watford were two up before the half hour when a great counter attack saw McAnuff’s cross headed in at the back post by Jack Cork.

Palace had their best spell after the break as Clint Hill headed John Oster’s corner home but were then undone by two goals in two minutes.

First McAnuff’s corner caused confusion in the box and Will Hoskins was allowed time to turn and score, then another breakaway saw McAnuff run 70 yards before crossing to Grzegorz Rasiak to coolly shoot home.

The Eagles perked up with ten minutes left and first Neil Danns and then Paul Ifill scored but it was too little too late in the end and their cup dreams were ended for another year.
