Paralympic gold medalist David Weir met the Sutton Young Sportsperson of the Year as he collected a fundraising cheque.
Mr Weir, 29, who recently became an honorary freeman of the borough, was introduced to all-round athlete Bryony Smith at Bandon Hill Primary School.
The year six student has a national ranking for squash at under-13 level and last year captained the Wallington Cricket Club under-11 boys’ team.
A school spokesman said: “The money raised with our mufti day was in aid of the Paralympics GB. We thought it would be rewarding and inspirational for the children if we could present the cheque to David Weir MBE.”
