Met Police boss Jimmy Cooper has not given up hope of chasing down Ryman League Division One South leaders Kingstoninan.

The Blues, who saw their weekend clash with Corinthian Casuals postponed, have been in fantastic form this season and have a real chance of promotion as they approach the business end of the campaign.

Ks are three points clear at the top of the table but have three games in hand over Cooper’s side and Imber Court chief reckons his men are still well in the hunt.

“We hoped for automatic promotion at the beginning of the season and we’re still in there with 18 games to go, so we’ll take our current position,” he added.

It will take some effort to catch their rivals, who won again at Leatherhead on Saturday despite not playing at their best, but Cooper insists time favours his side.

Kingstonian look like they are going to keep grinding out the results, so it’s going to difficult to overhaul them.

“However, we’ve got to remain positive. There are still plenty of games left to catch them up.”

Cooper, who signed Jamie Byatt last week, is currently in the market for a centre forward and hopes to bring in a player ‘very soon’ rto boost his side’s promotion bid.

The Blues host a Leatherhead FC side that should feature old boy Steve Goddard, with Cooper hoping his decision to let Goddard go earlier this month won’t come back to haunt him.

Met Police’s next three fixtures: Jan 24 Leatherhead (h), Jan 27 Cray Wanderers (a), Jan 31 Ashford Town (a).
