A picture of two baby squirrels has won the annual Elmbridge photography competition.

The winning entry was submitted by local artist Angela Stockbridge and is entitled Unexpected Visitors Drop In.

The photo's subjects were rescued from a garden in West End Lane, Esher, by a friend of Mrs Stockbridge after they were found to have been abandoned there.

A pigeon basket was lined with straw and converted into a new home for the foundlings as they posed for the winning shot.

The squirrels, who were given the names Bonnie and Clyde, were fed on bread and milk via a droplet feeder and enjoyed three days of life indoors until they were taken to Leatherhead Wildlife Rescue Centre, and, eventually, released into the wild.

The runner up photographs were of a snow scene at Broadwater Lake in April, entitled Oh to be in England now that Spring is here, and the other A reflection in a baby’s eye, the reflection being part of Coronation Recreation Ground in Hersham.

The winners received books of professional photographs and books on digital photography.
