The Royston Pike Lecture series draws to a close with three final lectures of the 2008/09 season in February and March.

Starting with Gertrude Jekyll and her book on Rural England on February 10, this lecture is presented by Matthew Alexander and will deal with Gertrude's 20 year record as a social historian documenting aspects of country and cottage life.

Following this on March 10 will be Andy Thomas with his lecture The Crop Circle Mystery, dealing with the apparently inexplicable appearance of crop circles all across the UK that have dominated the imaginations of ufologists everywhere.

The final instalment in the series is entitled The Battle of Gettysburg and is presented by Councillor Nigel Cooper, Mayor of Elmbridge, on March 18.

Coun Cooper will share his interest in the subject and explore the battle that signified the turning point of the American Civil War in July 1863. All monetary proceeds from the lecture will go towards Sparks, the children's medical research charity.

All lectures cost £1.80.
