A driver was punched in the face by a teenager in Sunbury in what police are describing as an "unprovoked attack".

The 46-year-old man was waiting at traffic lights at Sunbury Cross on January 20 at 3.30pm when a teenager got out of his silver Ford and asked the man to wind his window down so he could speak to him.

When the man pulled down the window of his silver Toyota Previ the teenager punched him seven times in the face before jumping back into his car and speeding off towards Feltham.

The man, who is from Sunbury, was left with a black eye and cuts to his ear.

Police describe the attacker as white, of medium height with short straight blond hair, aged 16 or 17 years old. He was wearing blue combat trousers and a black shirt.

Detective Constable Michael Cresswell, who is leading the investigation, said: “This was a nasty incident where an innocent man has been the victim of a completely unprovoked attack.

“The area would have been busy at the time of the offence so I’m sure such a prominent incident would have been witnessed by a large number of drivers and pedestrians.

“We need the public to help track down this individual and I would urge anyone with any information, particularly other road users who were in the Sunbury Cross area around the time of the incident, to come forward.”

Anyone who witnessed this incident or with any information should contact DC Cresswell at Staines CID on 0845 125 2222, quoting reference SL/09/583.
