Croydon College is now in the top five per cent of all colleges in the country, including school sixth form and specialist colleges, for helping students achieve top marks.

The figures, released by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, show that the College is one of the top 10 further education colleges nationally.

The statistics were produced as part of the 2007/08 league tables and relate to what is known as Contextual Value Added (CVA) scores. These compare where a student was in relation to achievement levels before they joined the College with the results they achieved on leaving.

On a local level these results are equally as impressive. Within the borough Croydon College has the highest CVA score of all schools and comparable colleges.

Commenting on these outstanding achievements, Mariane Cavalli, principal of Croydon College, said this week: "These results are a testament to the hard work and dedication put in by the staff and students at the College.

"Croydon College has always been committed to supporting students in both their studies and personal development. I'm really pleased that this support is reflected on both a national and local level in these tables."
