Special Olympians Jonathan Frett and Greg Friend took a trip to the Olympic site in Greenwich on January 15 - as the honoured guests of legendary athlete Lord Coe.

The middle-distance running star, now chairman of the London 2012 organising committee, met with the Special Olympics GB ski team ahead of their trip to the World Winter Games in Idaho on February 1.

As well as the chance to see how the work is going on the Olympic Park site in Stratford, the pair were each given a commemorative London 2012 t-shirt, as well as Lord Coe’s best wishes on bringing back medals from the United States.

Both athletes will be taking part in the slalom, giant slalom and Super G events, and have been in training supported by Top Notch Health Club, New Malden, and the Metropolitan Police Club at Imber Court, Cobham.

After their tour, Lord Coe invited the team back in the summer to see the whole of the Olympic Park - an offer the athletes said they would certainly be taking up.
