A couple have launched a compensation claim after a jeep they were travelling in crashed, injuring them and killing two other passengers.

Gagandeep and Jasmail Singh, from Feltham, were among 11 holidaymakers on a one-day jeep safari in Ortaca, Turkey, on August 18 last year.

A British man and his eight-year-old daughter were killed and seven others were seriously injured after the jeep reportedly swerved to avoid another vehicle.

Mr Singh, 29, was treated in hospital for a broken nose and cheekbone, fractured jaw and several broken teeth.

He had his jaw wired at a hospital in Turkey before being flown back to the UK, where he is still receiving treatment for his injuries.

His wife suffered minor injuries in the crash.

He said: “I am extremely thankful to be alive, but it has been a very traumatic experience.”

Clive Garner, head of travel law specialists, Irwin Mitchell Solicitors, said: “This is a tragic accident and it is, unfortunately, one of many road traffic accidents abroad which have caused serious injury or death to our clients or members of their families.”

He added: “We are currently making further enquiries with the Turkish police and the Foreign Office to obtain more information about this incident.”
