Julian Speroni: It was a risk to play him with an injury but he did well and made a superb save at a crucial time. 7
Nathanial Clyne: Was calm and composed and looked like he had been playing first team football for years. 7
Paddy McCarthy: Should have been closer to Adebola for City’s first goal but faultless otherwise. 7
Jose Fonte: Goal kick mistake blotted a perfect afternoon capped with a good goal. Is maturing into a very good defender. 8
Clint Hill: Skipper on his 50th appearance and unlucky to have a goal ruled out in the first half. 7
Ben Watson: Playing in an unaccustomed holding role he got stuck in and broke up play. Set-pieces were better. 7
Nick Carle: Was industrious on his return to the side but seemed reluctant to shoot at times. 7
John Oster: His best performance in a Palace shirt was capped with a goal and a great delivery for Fonte’s goal. 8
Paul Ifill: Was lively and full of running before being forced off injured at the start of the second half. 7
Sean Scannell: Was a real threat and brimming with confidence. Deserved his goal and the standing ovation he got when subbed late on. Man of the match. 9
Craig Beattie: Took his goal well but needs to get into scoring positions more often. 7
SUBS:
Shefki Kuqi (Ifill, 50): Was a real threat to City who couldn’t cope with him. Deserved a goal. 8
Johnny Ertl (Oster, 81): Shored up the midfield late on. 6
Victor Moses (Scannell, 90): No time to make an impact. 6
