A 16-year-old Streatham Vale cyclist has died after a road collision in Tooting this morning.
Officers were called to the scene after receiving reports of a collision between an articulated lorry and a cyclist in Tooting High Street at the junction with Blackshaw Road just after 8.30am.
The cyclist was rushed to St George’s Hospital, Tooting, by ambulance where he died.
Police say the cyclist and the lorry were both travelling south and stopped at traffic lights at the junction immediately before the collision.
It is thought the collision took place once the lights had changed and vehicles had started to pull away.
The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene.
Anyone who saw the incident should call the Met Police’s collision investigation unit on 020 8941 9011.
