Molesey 3 Camberley Town 3

Molesey found themselves playing another of the Combined County League Premier Division's better sides as they welcomed manager Steve Webb's former club.

Molesey were coming off an excellent 2-1 win at league favourites Chertsey Town and Camberley had beaten Bedfont 3-1 away midweek, so both came into this match with a little bit of form.

However, Molesey have already seen this season that anyone can beat anyone on any given day. They welcomed back Marcus McCormack, who replaced Sam Lampard, while club captain Steve Brown made the bench after recovering from the injury that has kept him out for the past week or so.

Molesey started much the better of the two sides in the unexpectedly heated game that both sides wanted to win - with only one league fixture taking place, either side could have leap-frogged up the league.

In the first five minutes, Baxter, Ackerman and Hooper all hit shots off-target as Molesey looked to make a bright start.

And the early pressure reaped an early reward when just 12 minutes in the game Baxter got himelf free of the defence and delivered a cross to the back post, where Marcus McCormack was on hand to slot the ball home into the near corner.

Molesey's early pressure to much for the Camberley defence to endure.

Six minutes later, the Moles had a free-kick cleared off the line, after Moses Spencer had nodded it goal words, the follow up by Bobby Hooper went wildly over the bar.

However, Molesey's early work was undone in the 18th minute, when a lot of confusion in the Molesey box saw Mark Sherwin place a diving header into the corner of his own net.

There was little pressure on Sherwin, and his misplaced header was just beyond the reach of Matt Nash in the Molesey goal.

While Molesey were still reeling from this setback, Michael Pym managed to outrun the whole Molesey backline and slot the ball calmly past Nash again.

The Molesey players, bench and fans were all stunned into silence as they saw Camberley score two goals in three minutes.

The game became very disjointed. Camberley were already time wasting despite having an hour of the match remaining.

Walton Road was a very quiet place for 10 minutes or so as nobody could quite believe the two gifts Molesey had given their visitors.

The only chance in the next 15 minutes fell to Lewis Ackerman, but he was just unable to connect with a McCormack cross.

Molesey, however found an unlikely route back into the game.

With just two minutes of regular time remaining in the first half, Baxter found himself well clear of the Camberley defence and, after rounding the keeper, had a very tight angle.

He fired the ball into the box and Darren Barnard was the unlucky defender who couldn't quite get out of the way.

Molesey were stunned after equalising out of nothing, which may be the reason that four minutes into first-half stoppage-time, Mark Sherwin was left on the floor as Camberley charged the box for one last attempt before the break.

The pullback found Adam Cornell, who slotted the ball just out of Nash's reach.

The tone for the second half was set after just one minute, when Andy Graves tried a bit of skill under pressure and lost the ball.

Luckily for the Molesey full-back, Nash was on hand to turn the ball wide.

The Moles were not at the races for the start of the half and were lucky that their opposition were finding it equally hard to get going.

Ackerman hit a one-on-one chance well wide and Baxter headed one that the keeper tipped wide. These were the only real chances for the next half-hour of the game.

Liam O'Leary, Steve Brown and Chico Kadzombe were all brought on as Webb tried to up the tempo of a very lethargic Molesey side.

Cornell fired a shot well over for Camberley, and then Hooper hit a shot just wide of the target as Molesey traded blows with their visitors.

O'Leary would have scored his first Molesey goal since re-joining Walton Road if it wasn't for the Camberley defenders throwng themselves in the way.

But then a miracle happened. As Molesey were facing a defeat five minutes into stoppage time, Molesey swung in a desperate Steve Brown free-kick.

Time seemed to slow down as in the six-yard box stood both Spencer and Kadzombe, the latter forcing a header into the roof of the net.

Calls of offside went un-noticed and Molesey found themselves with a point that didn't look possible.

It was a sweet moment for Kadzombe, who has just been called up to the Malawi international squad for an African Cup of Nations qualifier on October 11.

Moles fans have seen two sides of Molesey in the past seven days.

Against Chertsey, they showed class and skill as they passed Chertsey of the pitch, and against Camberley they showed their willingness to battle and fight for each other, two qualities that will be required for the coming months.
