A group of robbers thought to be part of Croydon’s Don’t Say Nothing gang have been convicted at Croydon Crown Court.

The three youths are being held in custody after a clear warning from the judge on Thursday that they would certainly be sentenced to serve jail time.

Curtis Bamfo, 19, of Guildersfield Road, Streatham, was found guilty of robbing taxi driver Abdul Malik of his car on March 6.

In evidence, Mr Malik said three men got into his cab and asked to go to Fiveways. Half-way there, they changed their minds and gave him a different destination.

Suddenly he was grabbed from behind in a headlock.

“They pushed me out of the car. I tried to get the key from the ignition but failed. They drove off.”

Bamfo and Ishmael Lokko, 19, of Cecil Road, West Croydon, were convicted of affray at a KFC shop in London Road, West Croydon, on March 12.

Lokko and Ezekial Kondowe, 19, of Tudor Road, South Norwood, were found guilty of robbing Moses Opiyo of four DVDs in Croydon town centre on April 12.

Oniche Webb, 20, of Coldharbour Road, Croydon, was acquitted of robbing the cabbie.

All four defendants, who had pleaded not guilty to the allegations, were remanded in custody until October 16 for pre-sentence reports to be made on them by the probation service.

Judge Nicholas Ainley told them: “I regard the offences as extremely serious and all of you should prepare yourselves for immediate custodial sentences.”
