A Croydon teen has been arrested in connection with the theft of a dumper truck from Bletchingley.

The 17-year-old was arrested along with three other men following an incident on Thursday afternoon.

Police were called to Reigate Hill, Reigate, following a report a Land Rover, towing a trailer, had hit a house causing minor damage.

The vehicle stopped in a nearby private road and the occupants tried to repair the trailer.

When officers arrived the suspects made off in a Vauxhall Vectra along the private road, crashing into a police car. The suspects then fled.

Response units, the police helicopter and a dog search team searched for them.

A 29-year-old man from Nutfield, a 26-year-old man from Godstone, a 23-year-old man Orpington are in police custody along with the Croydon teen helping detectives with their investigation.

A police officer was treated in hospital for minor whiplash.
