Landscapes, seascapes and other depictions of countries like Jordan, India and France are themes of paintings to be shown in Epsom next month.

Artist Terry Charles, 58, of Wallington shows his most recent oil, pastel and watercolour paintings at Chapters Cafe Gallery in his second solo exhibition called Paint and Palette.

“I went to India, Jordan, France and other places, and I tried to catch the essence of those places, the atmosphere,” he said.

Mr Charles went to the Epsom College of Art and Design under the famous Epsom watercolourist Leslie Worth.

He said he is influenced by a wide variety of artists.

“It’s a learning process and I am always trying to learn from other artists,” he added.

As well as painting, Mr Charles produces commercial work such as cartoons, classic and racing vehicles and commissions for portraits. He also won the Royal Mail National Christmas competition five times.

The exhibition opens on Tuesday, October 14, from Monday to Friday, 9am to 8pm, and Saturdays, 9am to 6pm, and runs until October 25.
