Simon Thomas insists he would be happy for Crystal Palace to send him out on loan if the opportunity arose.

The striker signed from Boreham Wood in the summer has been linked with a possible switch in order to gain first team experience and says it is something he would welcome.

He said: “I need games and reserves games don’t come often enough.

“If I go out on loan I’m going to give it my all, get match fitness up and hopefully bring it back to Palace and bang a few goals in.”

Thomas came off the bench at Wolves on Tuesday to make his debut in a Palace shirt and he admits his heart was racing.

“It was amazing,” he said.

“My heart was beating and it’s what I have always wanted to do.

“I’m here now and I’m still learning and hopefully there will be a few more games I can get involved in and push my way through.

“Neil Warnock just said go on there, no regrets, no fears, just give us your all and work hard, try and be big and strong and just enjoy it.”

Thomas was thrown into the fray because of injuries to Alan Lee, James Scowcroft and Calvin Andrew, though he himself had been suffering from a quad strain that meant he had only trained twice before the match, and he thinks he could have done better had he been fully fit.

“I’m absolutely buzzing and it’s a step in the right direction,” he said, “but the only disappointment was that I’m not fully fit, if I was fully fit and I might have been able to give a little bit more and maybe another option.

“I’m used to training an hour and a half two times a week maybe once a week so it’s taking it’s toll, but I’m enjoying it.

“My aim is just to keep going, keep pushing my way on to the bench, stay fit, keep working hard and learning off other people and keep pushing on from there.”
