It's been a busy summer for the girls and boys of 1st Cuddington (Warspite) Sea Scouts.
Week long summer camps for the Cubs, Scouts and Explorers have taken us everywhere from the outskirts of Guildford to Forrests near Nottingham. We have rafted, sailed, rowed, canoed, camped, and just about everything in between.
A sad note was the theft of our minibus from outside our Scout Headquarters in Cunliffe Road - 2 nights before scout camp this caused us real issues and whilst it was recovered, it is still not back on the road. Heartwarming was the level of support from our local community with mnay offers to help us transport equipment - thank you to everyone.
Our Cub camp was themed on the Olympics and saw our intrepid campers do everything from long jump to skipping over the course of a week. The Scouts continued the Olympic theme by rowing the Mayor of Richmond as she raised the Olympic flag aboard the Royal Shallop "Jubilant"
The summer season finished with a sporting note - 2 teams took part in the 22 mile Great River Race through central London. The under 18 team finished in 3 hours 56 minutes, whilst the under 14 team took 4 hours and 3 minutes to reach the finish line at the isle of Dogs, also managing third in their class.
Places are still open to boys and girls from 5 3/4 to 18, as well as for volunteers. If you are interested, please look at our website and get in contact with us.
