A stand-off between a bus and motorists brought rush-hour traffic in Brentford grinding to a halt.
Tempers flared after the E8 bus appeared to jump a red light at the roadworks in Boston Manor Road, blocking the oncoming traffic, at 5.20pm last Wednesday.
Chaotic scenes followed as drivers stuck in the lengthy queue beeped their car horns while others remonstrated with the driver of the bus telling him to reverse. Traffic was backed up along Brentford high street, leading to jams at the junction with the Great West Road.
Eyewitness Darren Vaughan filmed the five-minute stand-off on his mobile phone and said it was only resolved after a group of workmen stepped in.
He said the workmen downed tools and persuaded the bus driver to reverse and operated the temporary lights manually to get traffic flowing again.
