Julian Speroni: Didn’t have much to do in the first half, but made terrific saves from Chris Eagles and Graham Alexander in the second. Man of the match. 8
Danny Butterfield: Had plenty of space to attack but couldn’t find the killer final ball. 6
Matt Lawrence: Did well under heavy pressure in the second half. 6
Paddy McCarthy: Made a number of fine challenges to preserve the clean sheet and took over as captain after Derry’s dismissal. 7
Clint Hill: Was not able to get forward as much as he normally does and was booked for scuffle with Wade Elliott. 6
John Oster: Involved in most of the Palace set pieces before being substituted. 6
Tom Soares: Really pushed forward to support Scowcroft, and was unlucky to have two penalty appeals turned down. 7
Shaun Derry: Captain lost his cool after Scowcroft’s dismissal before being sent off himself and putting his team in even more trouble. 3
Nick Carle: Linked up well with Griffit on the left, but created few chances. 6
Leandre Griffit: Promising debut on the left side, forcing a save from Brian Jensen with a powerful cross/shot. 6
James Scowcroft: Managed to hold the ball up for Soares but hardly looked a threat up front before his dismissal. 5
Substitutes:
Calvin Andrew: Isolated up front but worked extremely hard at both ends of the pitch. 6
Jose Fonte: came off the bench to stiffen the midfield and made a number of excellent challenges. 7
Kieran Djilali: Tried hard to make something happen and give the rest of the team a break from their defensive duties. 6
