Eco-minded Spelthorne residents are being encouraged to drop off recycables at one of the 21 recycling drop-off points across the borough which have just undergone a facelift.
Spelthorne Council has replaced all the old glass and can recycling banks with new galvanised steel banks.
They are all colour-coded to help make recycling easier – green for green glass, white for clear glass, brown for amber glass and yellow for cans.
The changeover has meant the recycling bank sites at Elmsleigh surface car park in Staines and Church Road (Royal Hart public house) in Ashford are now able to accept aluminium and steel cans for recycling.
Any glass bottles or jars you have can go into the recycling banks where they will be recycled into new bottles and jars.
The can banks can accept aluminium and steel cans and also aerosol cans. The cans should be washed and crushed before you put them into the bank so that they do not take up so much space. Once collected they are baled and sent for reprocessing.
